Cheonan announced on the 26th that the 76 companies residing in the 'Cheonan Green Startup Town,' part of its startup support program, have experienced revenue growth and job creation. Cheonan opened the Green Startup Town in August last year to discover and foster promising startups and build an entrepreneurial ecosystem. The city has provided tailored consulting, technology commercialization, R&D planning, and demand-based support, along with networking opportunities with accelerator companies (AC) and venture capital firms (VC).
Within just one and a half years, resident companies have created 132 new jobs, with revenue reaching 23.2 billion won, an increase of approximately 43% compared to the previous year. Additionally, 12 companies have been selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' Private Investment-led Technology Startup Support (TIPS) program, securing 11 investments totaling 4.89 billion won.
Among the resident companies, Gauss Lab received R&D planning support from Cheonan and was selected as the leading company for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's DNA-linked XR technology R&D. Gauss Lab also achieved a 45.5% increase (7 people) in new hires compared to last year, earning the title of 'Outstanding Employment Company' in Chungcheongnam-do. CEO Lee Jung-geun stated, "The programs supported by Green Startup Town have greatly helped us maintain employment after hiring new staff and expand our business."
Cheonan Mayor Park Sang-don remarked, "Cheonan Green Startup Town serves as a catalyst for creating future food sources and securing new growth engines for the region. We will continue to strive to discover and nurture outstanding startups that will lead future innovation, providing a foundation for the growth and leap of local businesses."
Meanwhile, Cheonan has completed the first phase of the Green Startup Town and is developing the InnoStar Tower as part of the second phase, which will accommodate over 200 startups and 1,000 residents.
