Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering is accelerating its support for startups. On the 22nd, the company, in collaboration with the Korea International Trade Association, held the 'Open Innovation Collaboration Proposal Presentation' at the Startup Branch located in Gangnam, Seoul, to discover future startups in the shipbuilding and maritime sector.
From May 9 to June 20, Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering publicly recruited startups to participate in open innovation in the shipbuilding and maritime fields through the InnoBranch platform of the Korea International Trade Association.
During the presentation, five startups were selected from 75 applicants after a written evaluation and one-on-one briefings. The participating startups included Gauss Lab (Digital Twin Technology), Voltwin (AI-based Battery Management Solution), Saftics (Collaborative Robot Safety Simulation Technology), Carbon Value (CCS - Carbon Capture and Storage Technology), and Piquant (Harmful Gas Concentration Measurement Technology).
These startups presented their core technologies and ideas for application in the shipbuilding and maritime sectors, along with roadmaps for future commercialization.
Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering plans to conduct proof of concept (PoC) collaborations and investment attraction for the selected startups after evaluation by the management team. The company aims to provide support for demonstration costs and create a 'testbed' environment to facilitate rapid field application for collaborating companies.
Kim Sung-jun, head of the Future Technology Research Institute at Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, expressed hope that the presentation would serve as an opportunity for both the company and participating startups to discover new business prospects. He emphasized the commitment to continuously find outstanding innovative technologies in startups to create an environment for mutual growth.
